Job Description
A Care Assistant in a care home is a professional who provides support and assistance to residents, typically elderly individuals or those with physical or mental health needs. Their main role is to help residents with daily activities, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
• Personal care: Assisting with bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and hygiene.
• Mobility support: Helping residents move around safely, including using mobility aids or assisting with transfers from bed to chair.
• Meal support: Preparing meals, assisting with eating if necessary, and monitoring dietary needs.
• Monitoring health: Observing and reporting changes in residents’ health or behavior to senior staff or medical professionals.
• Emotional support: Offering companionship, conversation, and reassurance to combat loneliness and promote mental well-being.
• Record keeping: Documenting care provided and noting any concerns or incidents.
