September has been a wonderful month, filled with birthdays, outings, entertainment, and plenty of cake! Our residents have enjoyed a wide range of activities both inside and outside the home, creating memories with family, friends, and one another.
Birthday Celebrations 🎉
We began the month by celebrating Yvonne’s birthday with her daughter, a friend, and fellow residents. Everyone gathered for a lovely afternoon of tea and cakes.Later in the month, we marked Dorothy’s birthday with banners in her room and throughout the house before heading out to Bramhall Village. Dorothy enjoyed cake and coffee at Plum Cake Café, where the owner sang “Happy Birthday” and presented her with a special cake. She also had a browse around the charity shops and was delighted to meet up with her family for a lovely morning together.
Trips and Outings 🚐
Broadstone Mill – Residents enjoyed browsing the shops and having a relaxed lunch.

The Aviation Pub – Despite the weather, everyone had a fantastic time with hearty meals and a few cheeky drinks!
The Plaza, Stockport – We had two visits this month:
A matinee showing of The Apartment, complete with sweeties, crisps, biscuits, and coffee. The organist before the film was a highlight.
An evening Elvis tribute show, where residents danced, sang along, and enjoyed whiskey, lemonade, and snacks. We returned home tired but happy after a fabulous night out.
Ladybrook Daycare – A fun-filled day with coffee on arrival, games of card bingo (with a few wins!), fish and chips for lunch, and sweet treats of brownies and ice cream. Residents also sang and listened to music, which was thoroughly enjoyed.
The Lowry Theatre – On 25th September, residents attended The Buddy Holly Story. Laughter, music, and smiles filled the evening, and we arrived home at 11:30pm after a brilliant show.

Activities at Home 🎨🎶
This month we also welcomed a variety of activities and entertainers into the home:
Flower arranging with Gail
Arts and crafts with Jayne from Creative Mojo
All Saints Communion service
Armchair dancing with Eleanor
Each activity brought joy, creativity, and lots of engagement from our residents.
McMillan Coffee Afternoon ☕🍰
On 26th September, we held our McMillan Coffee Afternoon. Staff and families kindly brought in a wonderful selection of cakes—more than enough for everyone! The event was a great success and enjoyed by all. We are now in the process of totalling up how much we raised for this worthy cause.
